The NCAA has left the decision to individual conferences in how to schedule the upcoming season amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest announcement on the ECAC women’s website is from July 10th and there have been no schedule updates as far as I have seen. Here is what Clarkson’s schedule looks like currently on their website:
This is almost certainly in need of correction because the Ivy League, which includes Yale and Brown, has announced the complete cancellation of the fall athletic season.
“As athletics is expected to operate consistent with campus policies, it will not be possible for Ivy League teams to participate in intercollegiate athletics competition prior to the end of the fall semester.”
Those December games will need to be postponed. It probably doesn’t make much sense to play a single series before the winter break, but if they do I think it most likely that Clarkson plays the exhibition against the NWHL’s Beauts and Syracuse University prior to the break. That would leave them with 8 games to reschedule for 2021. If the ECAC is really averse to extending the season they could potentially schedule a Tuesday game for each of the eight second-half weeks.
But possible and likely are two different things and I think the ECAC would probably judge this to be too much of a strain on student athletes. It depends somewhat on what the other conferences want to do and whether they can get the NCAA to move on extending the season, but I would bet on an extra two weeks for conference play and an every other Tuesday/Wednesday schedule to fit in the remaining games. Which would leave something like this:
